Am i the only person who is relieved that the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 aren't coming out anytime soon? I feel like i've lucked out buying an iPhone that isn't revised in a year of me buying it! I would be devastated if an iPad 3 came out in september, i don't like being constantly last generation. Plus the IP4 and iPad2 are pretty great as they are
Yup, I feel the same. Get as much as possible out of my current iPhone before having to upgrade. It really hurts the wallet if I want to upgrade every year. :D

I'm sorry, if you struggle to lose weight, you're not doing it right. Losing weight is dead easy.
Just like quitting smoking is dead easy for some people but really difficult for others? My gran after 50+ years of chain smoking just simply stopped. She says she had no problem, just didn't feel like spending to money anymore. I smoke about 5 cigs a day since the age of 13 and still struggling to quit.
Different people are all different. Some people find it very difficult to loose weight, whether that has something to do with a so-called 'fat gene' or just addictive personalities who are addicted to unhealthy foods, I have no idea. But what one person finds difficult, another person will have no problem with.
And the same with opinions on what is good/bad. It's easy to take mick out of people who are happy to be fat or are into fat people, but hey... whatever floats your boat. All they simply are is different. I like ginger/redhead women. dXTC likes his women large. Donna likes food. Everyone is different.

WOW I'm amazed that that many people flocked to buy the app. I rarely view flash content on my iDevice and thus thought that it would be a flop.
With the regard to the previous argument, I think Steve Jobs meant well when he rejected Flash on iOS. Handheld devices are not great an environment at all for Flash with all the problems of security and performance outstanding. Since the beginning, developers on this platform have always been aware of the situation and groomed their content towards a Flash-minimal standard (even before iPhone came out, how many sites did you browse on your phones that featured Flash ?).
It is arguable that with its technical prowess the iPhone could have easily embraced Flash and minimized consumers' discontent as did Android; but being the perfectionist that he is, Steve can't let that happen citing numerous advantages of the renunciation, which are totally reasonable. So it is simply a matter of his vision, and eccentricities, you may say.
I don't agree with the likening of Apple to 'communist dictators'. Far from that, they have switched the allegiance to Intel and are slowly phasing out FireWire, which shows that while egoistically ambitious, Apple will just do what they think is best for their products and their customers. And isn't that what every business does ?
If you're personally dissatisfied with the direction Apple is headed, you don't have to blow it up into a corporate bad blood. Apple is not listening, anyway.

I think Apple has most to fear from M$ in the price battle, an iPod copy that costs significantly less would probably catch on pretty fast, of course, the popularity of the iPod brand is still larger than XBox.
Although I doubt that the design will be quite as dull as that picture
I'm thinking it will be more organic, like the XBox 360, with some curved shapes maybe.

They want screenshots and numbers, but since the EULA says we cannot disclose numbers, not much left but screenshots. Oh and for the record, I was not able to get my XP to install properly. Tried about 3x. As for my choice, Parallels for stability, but VMware for the multi-core support. I'll leave it at that.

Marketshare matters.
Why? The biggest and the most obvious reason is that developing for and porting software to OS X becomes more attractive to developers. Greater market share also helps Apple in its dealings with major partners like Intel and Microsoft.
The other big benefit for consumers is that we may see more product offerings from Apple as the number of macs sold increases. How about that Mac media center everyone's been talking about? Or the fabled Mac tablet?
True, I was being pretty flippant with that reply.
Having said that, I was attempting to underline the point that marketshare is a percentage. Even an apparently low figure (even 5% which we're all hoping for is still a small percentage!) represents a sizeable market, considering the size of the computing industry in general.

Well Apple has used up all the "big cat" names like Tiger and Lion which means that either OS 11 is underway or they will be in the embarassing situation of having to use lesser cat names which imply "less".
Ocelot, Cheetah, Cougar, Fluffy,
so 10.8 might be cougar. but if so the system requirements will make it only run on older hardware.....

The 17" is cheaper by the way if you opt for the 100GB drive. In the last revision you didn't get a price drop on it. Now you do. With a higher education discount I could get a beast of a machine for the price of a 15" MBP.
I wish they offered the 120GB HDD i dont need 160, but 100 is too little, 120 is just right + would save me nearly 60

Yes, and that matters to consumers....how?
Well it matters in it explains why AAC is only really in higher end devices. Lower end stuff is not going to support it because that is one of many ways to cut cost.
Boils down to this
MP3 plays in everything. AAC is hit or miss.

I'm just curious if the projected combined CMA / HSPA chips to be included in the iPhone would support HSPA+? That would at least give us some extra speed for iPhone 5. I don't think the current AT&T iPhone 4 does support HSPA+ - unless I'm mistaken.
Tony
No, it doesn't. I am excited for HSPA+ support because my carrier has had it rolled out completely for over a year.

I think the Amazon mp3's are of a lower bit rate though. I have a few and that was the case. Perhaps that has changed.
I stil prefer to own CD's and import them. Generally I can find the CD for less than the full album on-line. But I do by from itunes or amazon when I only want one song from an artist.

...God, not religion...
I'll be honest: I don't know what the heck that even means.
...I read every post and I understood them all...
No. You didn't. I am not judging her, and there are many here who aren't. I merely want all people to be accountable for their impact on society. For example, you are probably more healthy than I am. That's awesome. I truly hope you have the ability to pay lower insurance premiums than me. Why would I begrudge you that - I outweigh you by 50 lbs, and smoked for 25 years. But I'll tell you one thing - I run 15 miles a week now, trying to reclaim every last smidgen of lung capacity I can find. And, I've dropped 15 pounds in the last 6 weeks. And all just because I know I should. Think of how great it would be if there was financial incentive, to boot!
...my argument is not that she isn't a liability. It's that no one here has a right to decide where the line is between what lifestyle is so selfish that it is your personal concern.
Please stop assuming there is a "line." It can be a sliding scale. "Healthiness" can be measured with a variety of metrics (BMI, blood pressure, blood chemistry, etc) and there is no reason that numbers compared to numbers have to be judgmental. It doesn't have to be "healthy" vs. "unhealthy." That said, countless government agencies and private groups have decided what qualifies as "obese." The info is out there. People blow it off because there are no repercussions, no liability one way or the other.
I would argue that accepting a lifestyle that has a much higher likelihood of illness or death doesn't necessarily mean mental illness. What about adventure seekers? Is climbing Everest a sign of mental illness? The likelihood of dying is high, and honestly, some would say that you have to be crazy to do it, but people still praise the behavior, and don't label the person with a mental illness.
Agreed.
Guys, it really is possible that she just LOVES food. I've met people like that. They are great chefs and are very over weight because they love food. Not because they have some kind of mental deficiency.
I really LOVE alcohol. I have been known to drink three bottles of wine, a half-bottle of whiskey, or a twelve-pack of beer in an evening. I don't do it to get drunk, I just really like the stuff. Are you cool with chipping in for my liver transplant?
