I've just downloaded the update on mymiPhone and iPad and i noticed in the General Setings now there is a multitouch gestures button to enable this function. It suports 4 fingers up to show the app switcher, 4 fingers to the sides to switch apps and 5 fingers to the centre to go to the home screen.
It works great!
Can anyone else confirm this? How about on iPad?

How are you going to reduce the number of cables? It seems like you would still need the same number of cables.

I don't know, it's been on all aluminum models since 2003. After all these years Apple decided no one really wanted it? (A lot of people on these forums obviously wouldn't agree with that).
To save battery life? You can turn it off if you want. Problem solved.
The other models most obviously have more room for it. The Macbook Air doesn't, and Apple probably decided it wasn't worth bothering with for this model. For the other models with a lot more space, no reason not to if the space is there. But once you run into space constraints it is pretty easy to peg as one of the first things to be cut out.

Had Apple licensed FP a year ago like a lot of people were begging... they probably would have had to license it to MS. MS then could - nay.....would have used it to try to beat them with this cheesie spin-off....

MS on the other hand is already announcing how they intend to "win" the mp3 player battle....by operating at a loss for a few years - that is not leagal and yes someone at the DOJ is dead asleep.

After really looking at the photo, either Micro**** literally gave the 3G iPod plastic surgery or that is completely Photoshopped. It is SO similar to the 3G iPod with added ugliness to make it Genuine Micro****.

Someone correct me if i am wrong here but what this means is that if a mac user wants to install windows in bootcamp and parallels he is going to have to get the business or premium edition??
It is a good thing i get software (all windows, which sucks) through my school for free. I would never pay $400 just te be able to run it in a virtualized environment.
Also, i am assuming that if and when parallels figured out how to use the bootcamp partition to run windows in there software that would frack the EULA and therefor you would be SOL with help from microsoft. Now that puzzles me because technically there is only one copy of windows installed on the machine, but since it is being used via bootcamp and parallels it breaks the EULA and again you are out of luck.
Microsoft seems to be going about this totally backwards to me. I don't understand there insistence on so many different versions of the same crap. why not make like 3-4 versions instead of 7 (or whatever number it is). Make one for home users, one for businesses, and an ultimate edition. Then a server version. That to me seems so much easier.
Oh well, i get it for free anyway so i'm not sure why i am complaining.

After waiting two years for TMO to get the iPhone, I just threw up my arms in disgust at the merger news and moved over to VZ. Wish I could get confirmation before my thirty days with VZ are up.
For those of you talking trash about TMO's network: While their overall coverage is not as good as VZ's, their speed network wide is better than either VZ or AT&T. Much better. Much, much better. Trust me. I know.

What an amazing piece of machinery this will be. I am looking forward to acquiring the 27" "low" end.. which will surely last for years given their specs. The only downside would be the lack of SSD but that's understandable given their price/GB. Nevertheless, these iMacs will be blazing fast and a joy to operate.

if MS makes it cheaper than an iPod then Apple might have some trouble. Parents/grandparents who are technologically ignorant will generally buy whatever Bestbuy salesman pimps to them for their kid. So if it is cheaper than an iPod with similar functions then a lot will be bought.
I think people are very wrong here.
iPod is the cool thing. It is the brand name. It is what everyone asks for, even if they're using a generic term.
If you have an identical iPod and identical Microsoft brand side by side, people will go for the iPod, because it is the standard they are comfortable with. Even my grandparents konw what an iPod is. It is the Windows / MS Office of the music player world.
I know its a hard thing to wrap our minds around, but in this particular space, Apple is the established gorilla and everyone has to fight for the extra mindshare. People gravitate to the iPod, and will look at an MS offering with suspicion. "What does Microsoft have to do with Music? Aren't they a computer company?"

I agree. My friend has an HTC with Sense and I love it compared to my slow Samsung TouchWiz interface. It's gotten better with Froyo but still very sluggish.
As soon as Apple fixes the damn notification system and...preferably gives us some kind of option of customization of a home screen or something (just so its not just a bunch of useless icons), I will switch back to the iPhone. I kind of miss my 3GS.

The new look gives the appearance of a physical desktop calendar with leather binding along the top edge, and like the iPad application shows remnants of torn-off pages for additional realism.
Oh, for the love of the children, NO! What's this need to make a computer application look like it's made of anything other than what it is? It's not made of paper and leather, why try to make it look like it is? I really don't get it...tacky, tacky, tacky. :mad:

The iPhone 4 will still be the best smartphone on the market when the iPhone 5 comes out.
Holding it back makes a lot of sense at this point.

Anyway, regards to the topic. The September event seems plausible, and i know many people speculated it to be the case before as well. Makes sense because they can't really upgrade the iPod line that dramatically anymore. Thus they can introduce the new iPhone 5 and iPod Touch together, without people already knowing what the iPod Touch will encompass.
Only question is, can Apple keep the demand in Fall? with iPod line, iPhone and Mac upgrades?
On a side note people, don't put the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 under the same rumor umbrella. Clearly because, the iPhone 5 will come out this year, and the iPad 3 won't.
